Spelling Bee Champion

The winner of the Lee County Spelling Bee for 2016 is FMCS, 8th grader, Matthew Krupka. It took 50 ROUNDS OF SPELLING to get it done! The winning word – Catadromous. Matt moved on to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. and finished 46th in the nation out of 285 finalists!

We are very proud of Matthew and his journey through the Scripps National Spelling Bee. He did not misspell a word through the three rounds of competition. However, he did not qualify to the final group of 45. Congratulations Matthew on finishing 46th in the nation – there were 285 finalists in DC.  Click here to read the story.
